Michael

Michael Cipielewski, Web Analyst

Michael’s journey in digital marketing began the day he earned a BA in English from Wayne State University. Upon completion of his BA, he entered into a Creative Writing Master’s program and started searching for freelance to accommodate his school schedule. He would hold multiple positions as a copywriter, journalist, and even photographer during the day and take classes in the evening.

It was also in this period that he was introduced to three important words: search engine optimization.

Copywriting became SEO copywriting, and eventually just SEO. Michael still attended classes; instead of writing in his spare time, he studied graphic design and SEO tactics. He would eventually complete his Master’s coursework and decide to spend the customary year between completion of coursework and submission of the Master’s thesis working as a Marketing Director instead of writing a novella.

As a Marketing Director, the customary year until the thesis became years, in which Michael would service clients like Procter & Gamble, RE/MAX, Buffalo Wild Wings, Snap-on, and Century 21. He explored social media as a marketing tool and a personal interest; the love of people’s stories made him give social media the title: “the novel the never ends.”

His creative background has given Michael some radical notions about marketing: crafty, not sloppy; a sincere digital handshake is better than a physical and fake one; using the phrase “out-of-the-box” is half as good as “What box?”; users will tell you what your website should be like just by using it.

His polymathic pursuit of writing, SEO, and social media has been driven by passion for connecting digital selves. Joining Hunch Free has allowed him to show the connectedness of websites, email, instant messages, VOIP, social media, status updates, and tin foil hats.

When he’s not waxing poetic about alt tags, Michael enjoys photography, watching 90s television shows on Netflix, and reading. He promises that he’ll probably maybe finish that novella for his thesis this year.
