When it comes to copywriting, there are some definite DOs and DON'Ts. Here are some quick tips and tricks to making sure potential customers get the message the first time.
- DO keep it simple and conversational.
- DON'T forget who you're talking to.
- DO punctuate. It's a proven method that works!
- DON'T publish a sentence that requires you to take one or more breaths to read.
- DO get outside feedback from someone who has no clue and someone who does.
- DO sprinkle in jargon if your audience gets it.
- DON'T overuse buzz words or jargon that, when combined, create a cacophony of BS.
- DON'T make your complex products more complex.
- DO seduce and entice your audience. Marketing is probably the only place where it's advised to sell yourself.
And most importantly, the biggest DO of copywriting and marketing is:
DO practice what you preach. If you don't do it, don't say it.
